Auxiliary Circulation Assistant

The Greater Victoria Public Library (GVPL) is a well-loved, well-used community resource. We are an innovative library system with one of the highest per capita usage rates in Canada. Serving 318,000 residents and taxpayers in the Greater Victoria area on beautiful Vancouver Island, British Columbia, we provide library service to 10 municipalities.

We are currently hiring on call auxiliary Circulation Assistants starting immediately. Shifts include morning, afternoon or evening hours and weekends, including Sundays and at all GVPL branches. Please note that the number of hours of work available varies from week to week.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills when working with the public and being part of a dynamic work team. Customer service skills and computer proficiency are considered requirements for this position. Previous experience working in a public library is an asset.

This is a Union position; the hourly rate is $24.78 per hour + 14% in lieu of benefits.

Please Note: This position works varying shifts 7 days per week including weekdays, evenings and weekends on an on-call basis. Applicants must be consistently available.
