Public Services Librarians
Greater Victoria Public Library (GVPL) is an innovative library system with one of the highest per capita usage rates in Canada. Our vision is to inspire literacy, lifelong learning and community enrichment for all. Serving more than 367,000 residents in the Greater Victoria area, we provide library service to 10 municipalities.
The Public Services Librarians will support the goals related to the Public Services and the strategic priorities of the GVPL through service–wide portfolio assignments. We are currently looking for two part-time Public Services Librarians to fill the following portfolios:
- Public Services Librarian – Teen Literacy portfolio: This position is responsible for supporting and engaging teens to help them improve their broad literacy skills. The library provides teens with age-appropriate opportunities to explore their interests, connect with other teens, give back to the community and build worthwhile volunteer experience that can be applied to future education and employment.
- Public Services Librarian – Healthy Communities portfolio: This position is responsible for supporting and engaging residents to access central sources of information, programs and services that promote personal and community well-being.

This is a Union position; the hourly rate is $37.22 to $38.64.
