Books for Babies

Did you receive a GVPL Books for Babies bag when your child was born? Please take a few minutes to tell us what you think so we can improve this early literacy program.

GVPL congratulates new parents with a free gift: a Books for Babies bag, containing a board book, CD, and information about reading and library services.

It’s never too soon to start reading to a newborn, and we hope this gift bag will inspire you to read to your baby. Hearing words — whether in books or songs — is a great first step toward literacy and learning to read.

Babies born in GVPL’s service area are eligible to receive the free Books for Babies bag, which are distributed by public health nurses and midwives or can be picked up at any GVPL branch.

Books for Babies is generously funded by the Times Colonist and Raise a Reader.
