Get Ready to Shake Out!
Thursday, October 20, GVPL staff will be participating in the The Great British Columbia ShakeOut, the largest earthquake drill in history. Patrons are invited to join but are not required to participate. Service at all branches will pause for the drill at 10:20 am; regular hours of operation should resume by 10:35 am.
Victoria Book Prize 2011
A Greater Victoria author and an illustrator were recognized for their literary achievements last night at the 2011 Victoria Book Prize Awards Gala. Jack Hodgins, author of The Master of Happy Endings was named the winner of the 8th annual City of Victoria Butler Book Prize. Kristi Bridgeman, illustrator of Uirapurú (pronounced oor-a-pur-u), was named winner of the 4th annual Bolen Books Children’s Book Prize.
