GVPL welcomes Victoria's Poet Laureate, Janet Marie Rogers
Janet Marie Rogers was announced as Victoria's new Poet Laureate at a Victoria City Council meeting on Thursday, January 19, 2012. The Poet Laureate serves as Victoria's literary and cultural ambassador for a three-year term. GVPL looks forward to supporting Janet in her role as "the people's poet". GVPL in the News: Greater Victoria Public Library expands Chinese collection
VICTORIA NEWS - The Victoria Library celebrated Chinese New Year with a fitting gift. With a $15,000 donation made in 2011 by the Victoria Foundation, the Greater Victoria Public Library was able to expand its Chinese language collection. Family Literacy Week is January 23-28
In addition to our Family Activity Card contest and fun programs to celebrate Family Literacy Week, GVPL is pleased to offer a limited number of ‘GVPL’s 100 Picture Books to Read Before Kindergarten’ posters (PDF preview), perfect for classrooms and places where kids and parents gather. Ask for a copy at your local branch while supplies last. Brochures are available at all branches or can be downloaded from our GVPL's 100 Picture Books page.
