How to Pay Online
How can I pay my library fines and fees?
- Login to Your Library Account
- If you have any unpaid charges you will see a "Pay Online" button
- Click on the button
- Follow the simple instructions and pay with Visa or MasterCard
- Click on the "print" button to make a copy for your records, or if you have an email address a receipt will be e-mailed to you from this address: onlinepayments@gvpl.ca
What payment types are accepted? Is it secure?
- The Library accepts Visa and MasterCard. Your credit card information is encrypted using an industry-standard SSL Web Server Certificate. No credit card information is stored in the Library computer.
Is there a minimum and/or maximum amount?
- Yes, there is a $1.00 minimum and a $500.00 maximum.
Will I get a receipt when I pay my fines online?
- Click on the "print" button to make a copy for your records, or if you have an email address a receipt will be e-mailed to you from this address: onlinepayments@gvpl.ca
I paid for a book and now I have found it, can I get a refund?
- Refunds for any lost items paid online will be issued by the owning library. Please have your receipt along with the item you are returning if you need a refund.
Who will be the merchant listed on my credit card statement for online payment?
- The merchant will be listed as "Greater Victoria Public Library" though it may be a shortened version (i.e. "Greater Victoria Pub...") depending on the number of characters allowed.
What if the transaction is declined?
- If the transaction is declined there will be a message that says "this transaction has been declined" and you will not be charged.
How long will it take a transaction to register?
- Generally, transactions should go through the following day after you pay, except for on weekends. For example, if you pay on a Friday it will likely not show up on your statement until the following Monday.
