DAISY CDs and MP3s

  • Available at the Central and Juan de Fuca branches
  • DAISY CDs can be played on Victor Readers and on some newer model CD players
  • Victor Readers can play regular audio CDs and MP3 formats as well as DAISY standard digital books
  • Allows the listener to jump from page to page, bookmark pages, and go directly to where last stopped or paused
  • Victor Readers are available to print disabled patrons for a 3-month loan period. They can also be purchased from the CNIB

CELA (Centre for Equitable Library Access)

  • CELA has over 85,000 items including bestsellers, award winners, Canadiana, newspapers, magazines, and described videos
  • Accessible formats such as audio, e-text and braille
  • MP3 discs as well as downloadable audio
  • Access to Bookshare, an online library of over 126,000 titles available in e-text and e-braille. Audio versions are in synthetic speech
  • Self-register or ask library staff for assistance

NNELS (National Network for Equitable Library Service)

  • NNELS is provided by the BC Libraries Cooperative
  • Currently has about 20,000 items in digital format only
  • Self-register or ask library staff for assistance

Books-on-CD and Downloadable Audio Books

  • Available through the GVPL’s catalogue
  • Can be reserved for pick-up at any GVPL branch
  • Downloadable audio books are accessed from our website

Large Print Books
