Thousands of ebooks, e-audiobooks and magazines for all ages are at your fingertips with OverDrive/Libby. Find an ever-expanding collection of new fiction and non-fiction titles for all ages, or choose from more than 3,000 magazines covering a range of topics — news, business, science, fashion and more. The Fastread collection offers new and popular titles available immediately, with no holds and no waiting.

 

Ebooks are available in English, French, Chinese, Spanish and German, audiobooks in English and French, and magazines in many languages.

 

Search the GVPL catalogue for titles, or search within the OverDrive website or Libby app. You can browse by subject and genre, borrow content, place holds and return titles, and you can set email notifications to receive an alert when a book on hold is ready for downloading.

 

Log in with your GVPL library card number and password.

Borrowing Information

What you need OverDrive or the Libby app
Checkout limits 10 titles at a time; 1 Fastread at a time; unlimited magazines
Loan period 21, 14, or 7 days; Fastreads are 7 days for ebooks and 14 days for e-audiobooks
Holds 15 titles at a time
Hold period 72 hours upon notification
Hold notifications Opt-in by email or messages in app
Renewals Items can be renewed starting three days before the expiry date if there are no holds on the item. Fastreads cannot be renewed. Note: items cannot be renewed in the library catalogue.
Returns Return early so you can borrow more books OR item will expire automatically at the end of the loan period (no fines)

 

Privacy Notice:

This Digital Collection is a third-party service hosted in the U.S. or in another location outside Canada. Creation of a user account may store limited Personal Information (email address, password, library barcode and password, and the date of your last login) on a server stored outside Canada. Upon account creation, you are consenting and become subject to the privacy policy of the service provider. GVPL encourages patrons to review all third-party privacy policies and statements to protect their personal information.

 

Where other (third-party) organizations require personal information in order to provide services on behalf of the Library, the Library makes reasonable efforts to obtain commitments from such organizations that they treat the personal information in compliance with FIPPA and this policy. However, once information is in the hands of other organizations, it is beyond the Library’s control, and the Library cannot be accountable for the use, or further disclosure, of that information.
