Abstract:

Chronicles retired Iowa middle-school history teacher Michael Zahs's quest to restore and preserve a fast-decaying collection of film footage from the earliest days of motion pictures. Purchased at a 1981 estate sale, the collection originally belonged to "barnstorming movie man" William Franklin Brinton, who toured small towns in the Midwest and Texas from about 1895 to 1910, showing movies he bought from production companies like Lumiere, Pathé, and Edison, to audiences who watched motion pictures for the first time.

Originally released as a documentary film in 2017.
