Indigenous
Find Indigenous knowledge and imagination in every genre and format. The GVPL is committed to advancing reconciliation and strives to ensure our collections and programs reflect Indigenous perspectives in meaningful and respectful ways.
Indigenous Reads
Look for the Indigenous Reads shelf at every branch to find Indigenous voices and stories to borrow. These displays uplift Indigenous stories to make them part of everyday browsing when you visit the library. With your library card, you can also browse and borrow Indigenous reads from platforms like Libby, by Overdrive.

The Literacy Circle
The Literacy Circle offers a supportive space for Indigenous Elders and adults to build English literacy skills through storytelling in culturally grounded ways. This self-paced program is held at the Saanich Centennial Branch, and welcomes residential school survivors, day school survivors, and multi-generational survivors.
