Library services

GVPL is your place to connect, discover, and imagine. A library card lets you not only borrow millions of titles but access services that support learning, connection, and navigating everyday life. Here’s what you can expect.

What a library card gets you

Access to public computers and internet

Use a public computer for free at any branch. You can also connect to fast, free Wi-Fi on your own device. If you need help getting online, our staff are here to support you.

Bookable study rooms

Find a quiet place to study, meet, or work together. Study rooms and pods are available at select branches and can be booked for up to two hours. Check before you go, as only some branches have them.

Printing and photocopying

Print from any library computer in black-and-white or colour. In a hurry? Book a computer ahead of time for quicker printing. Photocopying doesn’t require a library computer.

Catalogue and digital collections

Choose from thousands of books and more than 30 digital platforms that offer ebooks, audiobooks, newspapers, films, and so much more.

Digitization lab

Preserve your memories at The Lab. Convert photos, home videos, and audio recordings into digital files using easy-to-use equipment, free of charge.

Books from other libraries

If we don’t have the item you’re looking for, we may be able to borrow it from another B.C. library.

Print-accessible collections and services

We offer assistive services and accessible materials in many formats, including large print, audiobooks, DAISY books, and accessible digital tools to support different reading needs.

So much more than books

Borrow Kits for kids or adults. These themed kits include books and learning materials chosen by library staff.
