Guidelines
We receive hundreds of suggestions each month. The information below outlines the submission process and what you can expect after making a recommendation.
- Suggest up to 10 titles per calendar month
- After you submit this form, you’ll hear within four weeks about our decision
- Because we get so many suggestions, we can’t respond to specific questions about selection decisions
Suggest these
Books, games, kits—any format we already offer
You can suggest titles for any format that we carry in the collection. That includes ebooks, print books, book club sets, CDs, DVDs, video games, and even Yoto story cards.
Published titles only
We can only consider titles that are already published. But feel free to suggest titles once they’re released as long as they’re not a bestseller or a high-demand title (see below).
Your own book or title
If you’re an author or publisher, you’re welcome to suggest your work. Please include any reviews, promotional materials, and information on where we can buy it. If you have a connection to Greater Victoria, please let us know. We may be able to consider it for our Emerging Local Authors Collection.

High-demand titles
Our team already keeps a close eye on titles by best-selling authors. This also includes the latest in a series that you’ve been borrowing from us.
Out-of-print titles
Unfortunately, we can’t order titles that are out of print. In some cases, we can try to borrow it from another library.
