Get Loud for Libraries on social media this Canadian Library Month for a chance to win a library gift basket!
This October, we’re inviting the community to share how Greater Victoria Public Library (GVPL) has made a difference in their lives. Whether you’ve discovered a new favourite author, learned a new skill, saved money through library services, or found a welcoming place to connect, we want to hear your story!
One participant will receive a gift basket valued at over $200, featuring books, library-themed items, and other cozy goodies.
How to Enter
To enter, participants must:
- Share a public photo or video on Instagram or Facebook.
- Include a brief caption about how GVPL has impacted their life.
- Use the hashtag #LoudForLibraries.
- Tag @thegvpl on Instagram or @Greater Victoria Public Library on Facebook in the post.
- Ensure their post remains publicly visible until the winner has been publicly announced.
Eligibility
- Participants must be residents of the Greater Victoria region and 18 years of age or older at the time of entry.
- Only one entry per person will be included in the prize draw, although participants are welcome to share additional posts during the campaign.
- Entries must follow our library policies.
- Entries must use the hashtag #LoudforLibraries and tag GVPL’s official Facebook or Instagram account.
- Entries must be posted from a publicly visible social media account. GVPL must be able to view the post, hashtag, and tag to verify eligibility and include the entry in the draw. Posts shared from private accounts cannot be entered into the contest unless they are made public until the winner has been publicly announced.
Additional Contest Terms
GVPL reserves the right to remove or disqualify entries that are incomplete, inappropriate, offensive, violate GVPL’s Social Media Policy (Policy O.9), or do not meet contest requirements.
This contest is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook or Instagram.
The prize is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
Contest Period
The contest closes on October 31, 2026 at 11:59 pm.
Entries submitted after the closing date will not be eligible for the prize draw.
Winner Selection
One winner will be selected through a random draw from all eligible entries.
The draw will take place on November 5, 2026. The selected winner will be contacted through the social media account used to submit their entry.
The winner must respond within seven days of notification to claim the prize. If the winner does not respond within that timeframe, GVPL reserves the right to select an alternate winner.
Use of Submitted Content
By participating, you grant GVPL permission to share, repost, and feature your submitted photo, story, and social media username in future GVPL communications, including social media, website content, reports, presentations, and promotional materials.
If GVPL wishes to use your story in a more extensive format, additional permission may be requested.
