GVPL has partnered with Fraser Valley Regional Library (FVRL) and Okanagan Regional Library (ORL) to expand your access to ebooks and audiobooks through Libby.
Starting September 28, you can use your GVPL card to borrow available titles from all three libraries. No additional library card is needed.
How borrowing works
- Search for an ebook or audiobook in Libby
- Titles from GVPL, FVRL, and ORL will appear in your search results
- If you choose a title from FVRL or ORL, Libby will let you know you’re borrowing from another library
- Select Continue to borrow the title
Titles from FVRL and ORL can only be borrowed when a copy is available. They cannot be placed on hold.
Titles borrowed from FVRL and ORL do not count toward your GVPL borrowing limit.
Getting started
You do not need to sign up. Your GVPL card is all you need to access participating titles from FVRL and ORL.
Finding your loans
In Libby, titles borrowed from GVPL, FVRL, and ORL all appear together on your Loans shelf.
Loan periods
Loan periods are set by the library that owns the title and may differ from GVPL’s lending periods.
Using a Kobo eReader
You can borrow participating titles using a Kobo eReader. However, a Kobo can be connected to only one library at a time.
To read a title borrowed from FVRL or ORL, you will need to switch the library connected to your Kobo.
Why a title may not appear
A title may not appear because:
- It is not part of the partnership
- It is currently checked out
- It is unavailable due to publisher restrictions
